TOP80 Charts Rules (DC & NG DC)

Welcome TOP80 Community!

The TOP80 Charts (Dance Chart - DC & New Generation Dance Chart - NG DC) are our shared space for discovering and celebrating the best dance hits! The DC list focuses on the 80s, while the NG DC list explores sounds inspired by the 80s but released after 1990. They have existed thanks to you and for you since 2007! Please remember that the most important thing is to have fun together in the spirit of fair play and mutual respect. To keep things running smoothly, we have a few simple rules:



VOTING - Your Vote Has Power!

• Who can vote? Any registered and logged-in user of the TOP80.PL forum.
  
• How many votes? Vote limits reset daily at 6:00 AM CET/CEST (our "chart day"):
  
  • Regular User: 2 votes (DC) / 1 vote (NG DC)
    
  • ItaloMafia Member: 5 votes (DC) / 3 votes (NG DC)
    
  • Supervoter: 7 votes (DC) / 5 votes (NG DC) (Status can be won in contests, valid for one chart round!)
    
• What to vote for? Songs from the "Main Chart Positions" and "Waiting List" sections of the respective chart.
  
• Important: Each vote within a chart day must be cast for a DIFFERENT song! The system prevents voting for the same song twice before 6:00 AM the next day.
  
• Vote Strength (Power): Your votes matter!
  
  • A vote from an ItaloMafia member counts as 2 points.
    
  • Votes from all other users count as 1 point.
    
• When to Vote?
  
  • DC: Voting usually starts Sunday ~10:00 PM CET/CEST and lasts until the following Sunday 1:00 PM CET/CEST. Results are presented Sunday from 8:00 PM CET/CEST.
    
  • NG DC: Voting usually starts Saturday ~9:00 PM CET/CEST and lasts until the following Saturday 1:00 PM CET/CEST. Results are presented Saturday from 8:00 PM CET/CEST.
    

PROPOSALS - Your Picks for the Chart!

Want your favorite track to hit the charts? Propose it, keeping these rules in mind:

• Limit: Each user can submit one proposal per chart round (per list). Let's choose wisely!
  
• Profile Compatibility:
  
  • DC: Propose dance tracks released between 1980-1990, fitting the 80s Italo/Euro/Synth profile.
    
  • NG DC: Propose tracks released after 1990 inspired by the 80s dance sound.
    
  • Both Charts: Avoid genres like Rock, Techno, Hip-Hop, instrumentals, medleys, unofficial remixes. Covers of pre-1980 songs are allowed (first cover only).
    
• Unique Artist Rule: IMPORTANT! A proposal will be rejected if the artist is already present in the current voting list (main chart or waiting list) OR has already been proposed by someone else in the same chart round for that specific list. Check before submitting!
  
• Quarantine (Break): A song that drops out of the main chart (Top 20 for DC, Top 10 for NG DC) must take a one-year break before it can be proposed again for the same list.
  
• How to Add a Proposal? Use the form, enter Artist and Title accurately (separate fields, capital letters). Using Discogs helps.
  
• When to Add Proposals? Submission is open from the start of a new chart round until it's manually closed by a moderator.
  
  • DC: Usually closes Wednesday evening.
    
  • NG DC: Usually closes Tuesday around 7:00 PM CET/CEST. (Check the status on the chart page). Please submit early!
    
• Proposal Moderation: Moderators review all proposals based on the rules. They don't see the proposer's name until submissions are closed. The reason for rejection will be visible. Let's respect the Moderators' work and time by submitting compliant proposals.
  

SUPPORTING PROPOSALS - Help Them Reach the Waiting List!

• When to Support? Supporting is enabled by a moderator (usually after proposal submission closes) and lasts until the main voting closes.
  
  • DC: Usually enabled from Wednesday evening until Sunday 1:00 PM.
    
  • NG DC: Usually enabled from Tuesday evening until Saturday 1:00 PM.
    
• Support Limit: You have a specific number of support votes per chart round:
  
  • DC: 7 support votes.
    
  • NG DC: 5 support votes.
    
• Important: You cannot support your own proposal.
  
• Outcome: The top proposals with the most support points enter the "Waiting List":
  
  • DC: Top 7 proposals.
    
  • NG DC: Top 5 proposals.
    

"Weakening the Dinosaurs"

To keep the charts dynamic, long-staying tracks are gradually weakened:

• DC: Points are reduced starting from the 5th week on the main chart (Top 20), by 12% for each subsequent week.
  
• NG DC: Points are reduced starting from the 3rd week on the main chart (Top 10), by 14% for each subsequent week.
  

Fair Play Rules

Remember, the charts are for fun. Any attempts at manipulation, using multiple accounts, bypassing limits, or intentionally breaking the rules will result in warnings and, in extreme cases, suspension from the charts or a forum ban. Let's maintain a positive atmosphere and respect everyone's contributions and the work of the chart team.
